The
first group of 6 Abbey students travelled out in Oct
2000
and worked there (with 5 students from St Josephs CBS, Drogheda) in this
challenging initiative. Some of those students have returned to work for a
longer period in India.
Again
in 2002
(
a group of 7) travelled again and applied
themselves to the immersion aspect of the Project in Roilang and in
Providence.
In
2004
(a
group of 9) went togive of their time and energy in the ever expanding
work in what had now become Providence School.
One has returned to work there over the summer period.
In
2006 (a groupof 10) laboured in Providence giving their best in the
teaching of English and learning local skills in Providence.
In
2008 (anothe group of 10 ) immersed
themselves into the workings of Providence from dawn till dusk in giving
(teaching English conversation) and in receiving (learning vocational
skills).
In
2010 (a group of 7) undertook the challenge
of involving themselves totally in the work of Providence in order to give
the kids there a boost in their education.
In
2012 (another group of 7) prepared
diligently for the task ahead and gave it their all. They left no stone
unturned in giving everything to the kids there. God only knows the good
that will come from their great efforts.
